Eszter Csurka
(1969 Budapest, Hungary)
Eszter Csurka (1969) is a vibrantly exciting, versatile representative of contemporary Hungarian art, who has created significant works as a theater director, cinematographer, photographer and performer over the past two decades, but is known above all as a painter. Her main theme is the body in constant motion: the human body. In her works, she often ventures to the limits of this enormous topic: her images give a new perspective to the laws of physics, find new paths for matter, and eliminate the banal boundaries of anatomy. The flesh appearing on the canvases sometimes disappears into something else, as if we were in another dimension. In a different kind of time, a different kind of space. The center of this universe is the heart, which can cast a shadow just like the Sun.
