My painterly expression is somewhat graphic, the result of using photography as a starting point and some digital techniques. When I paint my pictures, I break down the scene into homogeneous surfaces, the environment of the figures is simplified; I only show a few objects and environmental elements that are characteristic of the scene or event.
The images are figurative and often tell stories. Most of the time, I deal with subjects that many of us can relate to, that evoke memories for many of us. The facelessness of the people helps me to not associate the images or their stories with specific people, but to let each viewer's imagination add its own characters.
